Layering and Stabilization

There is no batting in this piece and the top and bottom layers are not systematically stabilized. This pieces is mostly one large balloon. In some cases, the embroidery has reached through both the top and bottom layers and can be seen across the surface of the wool backing.

  • This is a binding style that I have not observed before. The binding appears to be a type of satin. It is bound to both sides by machine and creates two flaps that can be separated.
