    • Cotton
    • Prints / Solids
    • Some feedsack cloth
    • Predominant Colors: White and yellow. Other colors vary with fabric print.
  • General Organization
    • Description:
This is a collection of hexagons sewn into a diamond field pattern. There are a total of 27 full diamonds and 9 half diamonds. They appear to all be of the same set because the solid white outline and the yellow ring are consistent across all units.

Some of these units have been assembled into the start of a quilt top. There 13 full diamonds and 5 half diamonds in the assembled portion.

I noted that a number of the units (~6 full diamonds and 2 half diamonds) seem to have been made at a different time or a different person. These units look older, may have a slightly different fabric weight, a slightly duller color and – significantly – seem to be smaller than the other unassembled units. Along the length of the diamond, they are about 3/4″ of an inch smaller.
  • Grid
    • Grid Dimensions: The assembled portion of the top has 3 1/2 columns of diamonds. The 1/2 diamonds are in the middle of left column of five diamonds. The remaining 3 columns are organized into a half drop pattern.
    • Blocks: The unfinished block is 20 3/4″ x 15″. The individual hexagon squares are 2 1/8″ from point -to-point and 1 3/4″ from edge-to-edge.
    • Block Name: The Diamond Field. (1932)
  • Techniques: Patchwork
  • Stitching Method: Hand
